So after one thunderstorm, one suitcase left in Houston, one ear that would not pop, one dog named Bunkin and many many Sudoku puzzles later I made it to Louisiana! It was so great seeing my friends at the airport, it made me so excited for this trip! I was just laying in bed last night thinking, why do I question the Lord so much, he's totally taking care of me! I feel so at home here, it's been great!
The first thing I noticed about Louisiana is the humidity!! Even though Arizona and Louisiana are both so hot, the heat is very different! Today Mary took me around Lafayette and it's beautiful here! The houses are typical southern looking homes, all made of brick with huge front yards, I just love it.
Another big thing I've noticed around here is their food. Fried, fried and more fried stuff oh and also cajun food! We went to this place called Olde Time Market and Maria ate a fried shrimp poor boy (kind of like a sub) and I had a turkey one which had gravey all over it. I still don't understand how my great looking friends aren't 200 pounds!! I took some pictures today but currently I am on a different computer so I'll have to upload them sometime soon!
It's just so funny to constantly ask each other "do you have _____ where you live?" Here's an example: Last night the girls were talking about this place called Checkers, and Maria asks (in her cute southern accent) "Do ya'll have Checkers in AZ?" and I said "Ya, like the auto parts store?" and both Maria and Mary start laughing and they said "No the fast food place!" Oh they also have a book store called BooksAMillion...I love that, I wish we had one of those in Arizona!! Anyways, enough rambling it's just cool to see the differences!
Tonight we are going to Mary's friend's surprise party and after maybe a night out on the Lafayette town! Should be fun!

Enjoy,...enjoy and enjoy somemore :-) Sounds like a great lst day,..give the girls a big hug for me! Love Mom P.S. I know I would fall so in love with the homes there,..its totally my style.
ReplyDeleteoh I can just picture it. I always say you can take the girl out of the south but you cant take the south out of the girl. So basically, what I am saying is that I am jealous and want to be in the south too. Haha. I have never gone back to visit our old house in Georgia but it sounds like it looks just like those too....light blue house with white shutters and a bright red door with rocking chairs on the porch.
ReplyDeleteKind of cute how you went to "Olde Time Market" since we go to the "New" Time Market all the time here haha. and so I would say you can take the girl out of the west but you cant take the west out of the girl. haha ok I am so corny.
Dude I would totally weigh a million pounds if I lived in the south. Hello Chick Fil A- so good and from the south.
Love you!
